Utility Company Services

Utility companies utilize our resources for various projects from routine waste transport and disposal to clean-up of various waste materials such as Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCB) from old transformers that utilized PCB's in their transformer oils.

Additionally, we are experienced contractors in the proper remediation of pole brow areas and provide the complete turnkey services that may be required throughout the United States. Experience in meeting the various cleanup standards and compliance requirements for each state is the key and only comes through a wealth of experience in addressing the residual contamination found in most all pole storage areas.

For decades, power, phone, and other utility poles have been treated with Pentachlorophenol. Dioxins are a byproduct of the manufacturing of Pentachlorophenol. Additionally, Chromate Copper Arsenate and Creosote have been used in the treatment of poles.

This is necessary to maintain structural integrity by preventing deterioration and decaying of the poles. These treatments were done prior to shipment of the poles to the end user, however, the materials used in the treatments never fully cure and therefore, bleed toxins throughout the life of the pole.

Pole storage throughout the US is commonly done outside where crews have easy access to select a pole and continue on to the job site. These areas are exposed to the various elements throughout the years and with the poles regularly being rotated out of the inventory,, subjecting the areas to contamination related to the chemicals utilized in pole preservation.

Brows beneath the poles are typically exposed earthen materials which are impacted and require remediation prior to the exchange of property ownership and/or maturation of a lease.
